Ascension Parish is growing FAST, and interesting new businesses, restaurants and attractions are popping up like crazy! Here is a list of 4 recently opened places you might want to try out for your next dinner date, date night or just for the sake of exploring!

Gilla Brewing Co.

The dream of 3 local Louisiana guys to open a nano brewery in Ascension Parish. Gilla opened its door in September 2019, since then they have been serving the public some unique and tasty brews that have reviewers raving!  Follow them on Facebook to get a list of weekly event happenings, new beer releases, food truck pop ups and more!

Sugarfield Spirits

Ascension first locally owned craft distillery. Sugarfield Spirits opened its doors in January and is ready to show off their brand new facility where visitors can learn about the interesting process that takes place to turn locally sourced sugar cane into Rum! You can also enjoy a signature cocktail in their tasting room and purchase bottles of their spirits.

Cafe De Olivos

Their goal is to serve delicious, authentic Tex-Mex cooking for friends and neighbors using the freshest ingredients in a fun, upbeat setting that makes you want to return again and again.
Since opening in Gonzales it has been described as a refreshing change and some of the best tacos and margaritas in town.

Donaldsonville’s Historic Portal to the Past

This one is not a newly opened place but more like a new route for discovering things about Ascension you may have never otherwise known. Donalsonville’s Historic Portal to the past is a series of 7 wayside exhibit panels that were recently installed throughout Historic Downtown Donaldsonville by the Tourist Commission, helping visitors learn about and explore the areas diverse two hundred year old community.
